Eugene, OR, September 21, 2011 – Jeff Evers, President of Asian White Coffee, collaborated with India Partners to install 13 water wells in 13 villages in India in the months of July and August 2011. Thanks to this partnership 6,500 families now have access to clean drinking water.

In April 2011, Evers made a corporate donation of $1,500 for water wells to India Partners through his company, Asian White Coffee, which supports numerous non-profit organizations that provide basic needs to the poor worldwide.

“The lack of clean water kills more people than just about everything else and it seems such a simple thing to give,” said Evers. “So I started a company with the sole purpose of providing clean water, education and medical supplies.”

The need for clean drinking water in India is great. The World Bank estimates that 21% of all communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe drinking water. And, the Indian Association of Pediatricians records that Indian infants, below the age of five, make for 25% of the total global deaths due to diarrhea-related causes. These deaths could have been easily prevented with safe water practices.

India Partners has been installing water wells in rural villages since 2009, and since then 78 water wells have been installed in 78 villages. One water well can be installed for $155 USD, and each well provides clean water to an entire village, approximately 500 people.

“It is partners like Jeff at Asian White Coffee who help to make our work possible,” says Brent Hample, President of India Partners. “Through the generosity of our donors, we can help bring life-saving water to the people of India.”
