Annual banquet will feature international speakers
March 31, 2005 — India Partners' annual banquet will feature Ron Post, founder of Northwest Medical Teams as master of ceremonies with guest speakers Daniel Victor, founder and director of Agape Rehabilitation Center in Chennai, India and Steve Stirling, Children-in-Crisis Advocate for World Vision.
Since 1979 when Ron Post was first compelled to start the project which became Northwest Medical Teams, hundreds of teams have been sent to assist disaster victims and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of aid has been given to the poor and ill in developing nations. Ron has been a featured guest on many local and national radio and television programs and Newsweek magazine declared him one of "America's unsung heroes." He has received numerous awards, including the Kiwanis International World Service Medal and the National Jefferson Award.
Daniel Victor, will speak about his work with the disabled in India. He and his wife, Avitha, are the founders and directors of a rehabilitation center that teaches computer skills to the disabled, enabling them to become productive, working members of their society. Agape Rehabilitation Center is located in the city of Chennai, India and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Daniel will be touring and speaking throughout the United States following the Eugene banquet.
Also speaking will be Steve Stirling from World Vision. Previously the Vice President of Marketing Operations, Steve is now World Vision's Children-in-Crisis Advocate and he is the voice for children in crisis, particularly disabled children, throughout third world countries. Steve is also on the Board of Directors for Holt International.
